Port Hope Police – Incidents Regarding Shoplifting, Warrant Arrest, Assault (No Names Released)

Shoplifting

A Port Hope male was arrested and charged after he was caught shoplifting from a local business.

The male, accompanied by a female, was seen by staff taking various items from the store on February 2, 2024.  The store manager called police and as a result, a 36-year-old male was charged with Theft Under $5,000. Both parties were given a trespassing letter from the business.

 

Warrant for Arrest

A 35-year-old Cobourg female was arrested and charged with Assault and Fail to Appear after she was seen by an officer in Port Hope.

On November 2, 2023, the accused was arrested and charged with Assault after she attacked another female in a residence. She was released on an undertaking with a court date of December 13, 2023. The accused failed to appear. The female was released on an undertaking.

 

Assault

A 55-year-old Port Hope female was arrested and charged with Assault after an incident with the superintendent of her apartment building.

On February 8, 2024, the accused female had an altercation with her superintendent around a chair she wanted to throw out in the building garbage. When advised that she would be responsible to pay for the disposal of the chair, the female became agitated and assaulted the superintendent. As a result, the female was arrested and charged with Assault. The female was released on an Undertaking with a court date of March 20, 2024.

 

Warrant for Arrest

A 56-year-old Port Hope male was charged with Fail to Attend Court after an original charge from January 9, 2024.

On January 9, 2025, the accused was arrested for repeatedly communicating with his ex-partner. The accused dated the victim in 2020 and in December 2023, began repeatedly calling the victim, the accused then attended on her property to speak to her. After being cautioned, the male again repeatedly called the victim.  As a result, the accused was arrested for Criminal Harassment. The accused was held for bail. He was later released on a court order with strict conditions.

The accused was to appear in court on February 7, 2024, to answer to his charged but failed to attend. As a result, a bench warrant was issued.
