Northumberland OPP – Brighton Man Facing Impaired Charges (Name Released)

An individual is facing several charges as a result of an impaired driving occurrence.

On January 20, 2024 at approximately 2:30 a.m., an officer from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol eastbound on Highway 401 when a vehicle was observed unable to maintain its lane. A traffic stop was conducted, and the officer was led into an impaired driving investigation. The driver was arrested and transported to a detachment for further testing.

Sage DALY, 35-years-old, from Brighton, has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Driving motor vehicle wit liquor readily available

·      Driver fail to surrender licence.

A further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
