Update – Northumberland OPP – Youth Charged in Relation to Child Pornography

Further Charges After Separate Complaint

(MUNICIPALITY OF BRIGHTON, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid further charges relating to child pornography after another victim comes forward. 

On August 14, 2023, OPP were dispatched to a property in the Municipality of Brighton where a report of non-consensual distribution of an intimate recording was provided. At that point, an investigation was initiated which spanned approximately four months.

On December 20, 2023, the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit arrested a 17-year-old from Brighton as a result of the investigation.

On December 22, 2023, OPP received a complaint from another victim in relation to non-consensual distribution of an intimate recording. An additional investigation was undertaken and on January 3, 2024, the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit arrested and charged the same accused with:

 

The individual, who cannot be named due to the provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) was held on bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
