Northumberland OPP – Trenton Youth Facing Charges Resulting from Collision
On November 5, 2023, at approximately 5:53 a.m., the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision where a passenger vehicle had rolled onto its roof.
Northumberland OPP members located the vehicle on County Road 2, in the Municipality of Brighton, along with both occupants who were treated by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for reported minor injuries.
As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old from Trenton who cannot be named due to the provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), was arrested and charged with the following:
- Careless Driving
- Novice driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero
- Novice driver fail to surrender licence
- Drive without authorized accompanying driver
- Class G1 licence holder – carry front-seat passenger
A further 3-day Driver Licence Suspension was initiated as per statute.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a later date.
