Cobourg Police Shut Down All Rail Traffic For Possible Weapons Call When There Was No Weapon

Police Investigation Ontario Street Cobourg October 3, 2023

Emergency services attended an address on Ontario Street in Cobourg for what Cobourg Police are only describing as an “investigation” on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.

Shortly after 2 p.m. emergency services were notified of an incident at a home “near the tracks.”

Northumberland County Paramedics and Cobourg Fire Department also attended the area, but were kept back a safe distance while Cobourg Police dealt with the “investigation.”

Police closed Ontario Street was closed between Furnace Street and Sutherland Crescent while  they dealt with the incident.

The third release issued by police indicated, “Police received information regarding a person with a weapon. Police secured the immediate area, notifying other emergency services. As a result of the Police Investigation, it was determined that no weapon was present. ”

All rail traffic was shut down while police investigated the incident.

“It is believed that there is no further risk to the public at this time.”
