Wasn’t that a party!
In fact, we’d call it the party of the year as Chris Janson rocked the Cobourg Community as part of Northumberland Rocks back on Thursday, June 16, 2023.
It’s been a decade since the original group band Western Avenue played together, but you wouldn’t know it as band members Matt Williams, Nikki English and Keith Robertson kicked off the evening.
Nickola Magnolia from Port Hope took the stage next playing songs like, “I Loved Country Music More Than I Ever Loved You,” then it was Jeremy Macklin with his new released song/video “Hickin It” and other popular songs getting the crowd ramped up for the main act of the evening.
All, bands performing were amazing and showcased the talent that Northumberland County has to offer, but when Chris Janson took the stage, it brought the crowd to a new level.
And that level just kept rising for nearly two hours.
As soon as Janson came out on the stage to thunderous applause, his first words were, “I love Canada,” and it showed.
The more the evening went on, the more the crowd and the 37-year-old country music singer/songwriter got to know each other.
Janson is on a 2023 tour playing various venues in Canada and the United States, but for Thursday evening, Janson almost became an honourary citizen of Cobourg.
Janson has recorded three albums and is a hugely talented singer and musician playing the harmonica, guitar, and keyboards during the show.
With hits like Buy Me a Boat, Everybody, Real Friends, Good Vibes and Done, the night seemed more like one big party of family and friends with the 215th member of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.
Making it even more of a family event, Janson brought out his son for a song and introduced his wife on stage, before she graciously spoke to fans of her husband during the concert.
