The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged four separate people with impaired driving over the weekend.
On November 18, 2022, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Quinte West OPP conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Highway 401, eastbound near County Road 40, following reports of the vehicl e being all over the road. The driver was subsequently arrested after demonstrating signs of alcohol impairment. The accused was transported to the Belleville Police station for further testing where their blood alcohol levels were determined to be well above the legal limit.
Mary GALASKI, 57 years old from Quinte West was charged with the following offences:
On November 19, 2022, at approximately 12:00 a.m., officers responded to a report of a vehicle all over the road that was also reported to have lost a front bumper on Sidney Street, south of Monogram Place in Trenton. The driver of the vehicle was located at their residence and was subsequently arrested for impaired driving. The accused was transported to the Quinte West Detachment for further testing where their blood alcohol levels were determined to be well above the legal limit.
Bradley MACFARLANE, 58 years old from Quinte West was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
On November 20, 2022, at approximately 12:15 a.m., officers happened upon a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Sidney Street and North Murray Street, in Trenton. A person was observed standing outside of a vehicle, pounding on the glass of the other involved vehicle. The male, who was demonstrating signs of alcohol impairment was arrested for impaired driving. The accused was transported to the Quinte West Detachment for further testing where their blood alcohol levels were determined to be well above the legal limit.
Dakota YOUNG, 23 years o ld from Belleville has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and mischief under $5,000.
On November 20, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on the shoulder of Wallbridge Loyalist Road just north of Highway 401, in Quinte West. Officers arrived on scene and observed signs of alcohol impairment with the driver. As a result, the accused was arrested for impaired driving.
Kenneth MUMBY, 31 years old from Central Hastings was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
All accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville in December 2022. Additionally, all vehicles involved were impounded for seven days and their drivers’ licenses were suspended for 90 days.
