Update – Northumberland OPP – Deceased Identified in Fatal Motorcycle Collision

Officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in collaboration with members of the O PP Central Region Technical Collision Investigation (TTCI) unit are continuing their investigation into a fatal collision which took place on County Road 21 yesterday.

On Wednesday August 17, 2022, at approximately 2:36p.m., the Northumberland OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle that occurred on County Road 21 in the area of Walker Road. As a result of the collision, the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. The roadway was closed for several hours as investigators documented the scene and gathered evidence to help determine a cause for the crash.

OPP can now reveal the identity of the deceased as 78-year-old Patrick LAMPING of Lavoy, Alberta.

Investigation is ongoing at this time and no further details are available for release.
