OPP Lay Attempted Murder Charge in Omemee

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently on the scene of an investigation in Omemee, where three people have been injured and one person faces serious charges. There is no threat to public safety.

On July 2, 2022 at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers received a disturbance call at an apartment building in Omemee, where three people were located injured and taken to hospital. One person was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre.

The accused was quickly located and arrested by police, and has been charged contrary to the Criminal Code with:

The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on July 7, 2022.

The name of the accused will not be released in order to protect the identify of the victims.

Residents in Omemee can expect to see an increase in police presence over the next few days as the investigation remains ongoing with members of the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services (FIS), under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
