Cobourg Police – Possession x2, Obstruct Police, Held for Bail (No Name Released)

Man charged with possession after suspected fentanyl and cocaine found during arrest.

On Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 5:25 p.m., police on general patrol on Division Street in Cobourg observed a person currently wanted on two outstanding warrants with the Cobourg Police Service.

When police attempted an arrest, the individual ran away. After a brief pursuit, police safety made the arrest.

During the arrest, police located suspected fentanyl and suspected cocaine.

The 29-year-old Cobourg man was charged with the following offences:

1. Obstruct Police officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code

2. Possession of a schedule I substance – Fentanyl, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

3. Possession of a schedule I substance – Cocaine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

The man was held for a bail hearing and released with a scheduled court date on June 22, 2022.
