Northumberland County Announces Departure of IT Director

Following a distinguished career in the municipal sector spanning over 32 years, Northumberland County Director of IT Tony Paulic has announced his retirement from the municipal public service. Mr. Paulic will conclude his role with the County effective April 22, 2022.

“With his strategic mindset, his extensive technical knowledge and expertise, and his collaborative nature, Tony has had a significant impact on County operations since joining the organization in 2017,” states CAO Jennifer Moore. “By delivering the County’s first Digital Strategy in 2019, he established a framework for how the County will leverage advancements in technology to foster an inclusive, prosperous, and secure community. This has led to achievements including the expansion of online service delivery, improvements in community digital literacy and cultivation of broadband opportunities. He has been a force for innovation. We wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.”

Focused on delivering value through technology, Mr. Paulic has also led the transformation of the County’s enterprise IT operations, championing service modernization, and advancing organizational security through initiatives aimed at safeguarding data and information. Furthermore, aligning with the County’s Mission to be a best practices leader, the IT Department has expanded its service delivery model externally, providing critical IT services for several member municipalities.

As a seasoned team builder, Mr. Paulic has fostered a high-performing and resilient IT Department with the skills and expertise to both support and lead organizational technology modernization.

Under his leadership, this team delivered the rapid roll-out of remote work technology – accelerating business plans for this integration from a gradual two to three-year outlook to complete implementation in less than three months – to ensure continued critical operations during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“County Council recognizes and thanks Tony for his notable contributions to the organization and the community,” states Warden Bob Crate. “By spearheading digital modernization activities, he has helped to position the County to best meet the evolving needs and expectations our residents and businesses.”

Northumberland County will launch a recruitment process for the Director of IT position, with an incumbent anticipated to be announced in the coming months.
