Durham Regional Police – Contractor Wanted for Fraud
Police have issued a warrant for a contractor in a fraud-related investigation after victims from Durham and Toronto were defrauded on home improvement projects.
In the spring of 2021, investigators from the Financial Crimes Unit commenced an investigation after four separate victims came forward, advising that they had been defrauded of money for home renovations. The suspect Tyler BEAUMONT who identified himself as the owner of Lonestar Fence and Deck of Bowmanville would go to the victim’s homes, give them a quote for fence work, collect a deposit and work was never completed. The victims were given cellphone number that eventually didn’t work and the suspect was never heard from again.
Police were able to identify four victims and believe there may be others that have not reported it to the police. The frauds varied from $1,000 to $4,700.
Tyler BEAUMONT, age 36 of No Fixed Address is wanted for Fraud Under $5000 x4.
DRPS remind the public to ensure that you take proper steps to identify who you are dealing with and to take your time to thoroughly check contractors before giving them any money.
