R.I.D.E. Programs Well Underway in Northumberland

Cobourg Police Northumberland OPP RIDE December 9, 2021

It’s that time of year for police services conducting Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere programs.

On Thursday, December 9, 2021 members of the Cobourg Police Service and Northumberland OPP were out on area roadways helping to keep the roads safe.

Members of the Cobourg Police Service were at various locations in Cobourg including on Division Street by the VIA station.

At one point, a pickup truck travelling southbound failed to stop at the RIDE program.

Officers yelled at the driver as he entered the area were police were standing. Several police cruisers had their emergency lights activated at the time.

When officers yelled at the driver to stop he did – and was cautioned for his actions.

It was the second consecutive night a driver had sped through the RIDE program.

Police remind drivers, whether it is a collision they are approaching or a RIDE program, anytime you see emergency lights activated at any time of day to slow down while approaching.

Northumberland OPP were also conducting RIDE programs at on/off-ramps of Highway 401 in Cobourg and Port Hope.
