Cobourg Police – Cobourg Woman Charged with Theft

On Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at 7:15 p.m., members of the Cobourg Police Service were dispatched to a business on Division Street in response to a report of theft.

Police investigation revealed that a wallet was stolen, and stolen credit cards were used to purchase goods at the business. Police located a person walking in the area matching the description provided.

Subsequent investigation revealed the person was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Tiffany PALFREY (32) of Cobourg was arrested on the outstanding warrant. Search incident to arrest revealed a prohibited knife, a stolen personal wallet with identification, and items purchased with the stolen credit cards.

PALFREY was charged with the following offences:

1. Theft Under $5000 – Contrary to Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – Contrary to Section 355(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada x2

3. Theft of a Credit Card – Contrary to Section 342(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

4. Possession of a Credit Card – Contrary to Section 342(1)(c) of the Criminal Code of Canada

5. Fraudulent Use of Credit Card – Contrary to Section 342(1)(c) of the Criminal Code of Canada

6. Use Credit Card Data – Contrary to Section 342(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada

7. Possession of a Prohibited Weapon – Contrary to Section 91(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
