Update – Durham Regional Police – Susicious Disappearance of Two Females in Whitby

The results of a post mortem examination conducted on human remains located in Mariposa Township has confirmed the identity of one of the two missing females from Whitby.

 

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were investigating reports of human remains that were located on The Glen Road in Mariposa Township shortly after 7 p.m., on October 24, 2021. Later that evening, DRPS Investigative Team and the Forensic Identification Unit were notified and assisted with the investigation.

Post Mortem results confirmed the identity of one of the bodies recovered as Ava BURTON, age 58 of Scepter Place in Whitby. Investigators have not yet been able to confirm the identity of the second victim recovered at the scene. Post Mortem results indicate obvious signs of trauma to both victims.

 

Ava BURTON was one of two females who were listed as missing after officers were unable to locate them during a wellness check requested by a family member on October 14, 2021.
