The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged three people following a traffic stop on Highway 401 in Quinte West.
On October 20, 2021, at approximately 12:40 a.m., Quinte West OPP conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on the 401 at Glen Miller Road after observing the vehicle driving at speeds in excess of 140 km/hr. After speaking with the driver, officers observed suspected cannabis improperly stored within the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted where a quantity of suspected fentanyl, as well as cannabis were located. Three people were arrested.
Johnathan HAMILTON-RICKMAN, 29 years old, Devon HAMILTON-RICKMAN, 27 years old and Jesse MAHON, 28 years old, all from the Greater Toronto Area were charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl. Devon HAMILTON-RICKMAN was also charged with failing to comply with a release order.
Johnathan HAMILTON-RICKMAN was additionally charged with the following offences:
Speeding 1- 49 km/hr over the posted speed limit;
Driving while under suspension;
Glass G1 license holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver
Class G1 license holder – drive on prohibited highway
Drive motor vehicle – fail to display two plates
Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
All accused were all held in custody and are scheduled to appear for bail at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on October 20, 2021.
