Habitat for Humanity Northumberland Partners with Ova Time Renovations Inc. for Socially Distanced Golf Tournament

Habitat for Humanity Northumberland and Ova Time Renovations Inc. are inviting the community to come out to Dalewood Golf Club throughout the summer to participate in their “socially distanced” Golf Tournament.

All funds raised through this tournament will be used to build or renovate Habitat homes in Northumberland County in 2021. Registration for individuals and foursomes opens June 1st.

Unlike previous years, which were single day events, this tournament spans over two months. Golfers are invited to play anytime between July 1st and August 31st via tee times.

With the limitation on outdoor events and restrictions to participants indoors, this format means that the tournament can proceed regardless of the re-opening plan for the province. Golfers can play with a foursome or in smaller groups while still following public health restrictions. This year’s package includes 18 holes of golf, cart rental, BBQ lunch and warm up bag of range balls.

Upon registration for the tournament players will receive a ticket valid from July 1st – August 31st at Dalewood Golf Club.

To redeem a ticket, players will need to call Dalewood Golf Club and indicate that they have purchased a ticket to the Ova Time Renovations – Habitat for Humanity Golf Tournament. Upon arrival players will receive a special scorecard, and grab bag for the day. When players have completed their round, they are to submit their scorecard in the pro-shop to be included in draws and prizes.

“We are excited to once again partner with Matthew Ova and the team from Ova Time Renovations Inc. for this event,” says Meaghan Macdonald, Executive Director. “With the uncertainty in the past 18 months, we are thrilled that we are able to continue to bring the community together to have fun while raising funds to build local affordable housing. This year, because of events like this, we are planning on finishing and dedicating 4 homes, helping four families achieve strength, stability, and independence through affordable housing.”

So, while it is not a one-day event, Habitat is still looking for local community partners to sponsor this tournament. Hammer & Nail sponsorship is $650 and includes a foursome and an event sponsorship. Just looking to sponsor and not participate? Hard Hat Sponsors are $150 each. Sponsors will be recognized on social media, Habitat’s website, on the scorecard and in the grab bags during the two-month duration of the event.

All information regarding the golf tournament is available at www.habitatnorthumberland.ca. Anyone interested in sponsoring or joining this event is encouraged to contact Melissa (905-396-7402, mcranston@habitatnorthumberland.ca).
