Cobourg Council – Annual Expense and Remuneration Report Received

Cobourg council this week received the annual report on remunerations and expenses for 2020.

The report, presented at Monday’s committee-of-the-whole meeting, lists remunerations and expenses paid to members of council, either through council or committee service, as well as remunerations and expenses paid to members of local boards.

Councillor Nicole Beatty received remuneration of $24,797.69 and expenses of $729.36 as councillor, as well as $275 for her service on the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority board.

Councillor Aaron Burchat received remuneration of $24,797.55 and expenses of $118.80 as councillor, as well as $6,975.94 for his service on the Police Service Board.

Councillor Adam Bureau received the same remuneration and expenses of $183.50 as councillor.

Councillor Emily Chorley received the same remuneration and expenses of $729.36 as councillor.

Councillor Brian Darling received the same remuneration and expenses of $118.80, as well as $275 for his service on the GRCA board.

Mayor John Henderson received remuneration of $43,922.75 plus expenses of $1,054.95 for his work as mayor, as well as $6,975.94 remuneration and expenses of $228.84 for his service on the Police Service Board, $3,500 for his service on the Town of Cobourg Holdings Inc., $24,265.42 remuneration and expenses of $79.76 for his service as Northumberland County councillor, and expenses of $369.38 for his service on the Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit board.

Deputy Mayor Suzanne Seguin received remuneration of $29,410.52 plus expenses of $118.80 for her work as deputy mayor.

Other members of the Police Service Board were included in the report, with Sean Graham receiving remuneration of $6,975.94 and expenses of $228.84, Ronald Kerr receiving the same remuneration and expenses of $700.27 and chair Dean Pepper receiving remuneration of $8,720.07 and expenses of $814.12.

Members of the committee of adjustment also received remuneration – $750 each to P. Delanty, B. Gutteridge and A. Smelko. A. Hudson got the same remuneration plus expenses of $76. Chair Bob Marr received remuneration of $850.

The final breakdown showed expenditures for remunerations and expenses totalled $271,737.60.
