Quinte West OPP – Suspect Wanted for Attempted Murder of a Police Officer Arrested
Individual Now In Custody – Shelter in place ends
(Quinte West, ON) – The “shelter in place” for the Foxboro area has been cancelled.
An individual has been taken into custody in the area, but a large police presence will remain in the area for much of the morning.
On March 21, 2021 shortly before 1:00 a.m., an officer from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) had conducted a traffic stop on Highway 14 just west of Highway 62. The officer’s cruiser was struck by the other vehicle and the officer was stabbed in an assault. The officer remains in hospi tal with serious injuries.
Shortly after 4:30 a.m. an Alert Ready message was broadcast through cell phones and media in Hastings County to warn of a potentially dangerous situation and to “shelter in place”.
The wanted individual has now been arrested and taken into custody without further incident.
