Further to the media release issued on January 16, 2021, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reporting the following updated information:
On February 23, 2021, Inspector Steve GROSJEAN — 62 years; of HSD Mississauga Detachment (33 years of service) was arrested for Breach of Trust. GROSJEAN has been released on an undertaking.
A warrant had been issued for Provincial Constable Bindo SHOWAN — 57 years; of the Highway Safety Division (HSD) 407 Detachment (20 years of service) who was out of the province at the time. SHOWAN was arrested on January 22, 2021. He has been charged with Secret Commissions and Breach of Trust. SHOWAN was released on an undertaking.
As per authorities contained in the Police Services Act, both members have been served with notices of suspension with pay.
This investigation is continuing. Should other OPP members be criminally charged, their identities will be released.
