Heritage Award certificates are on their way from the Town of Cobourg to Anne Marie Cummings and Keith Colterman, following a virtual celebration at this week’s committee-of-the-whole council meeting.
“As council and the public may be aware, this week is Heritage Week – an opportunity for us to celebrate and recognize our continued commitment and stewardship to our built heritage in the Town of Cobourg,” Councillor Nicole Beatty said.
Beatty noted that Cummings was being recognized for restoring a beautiful porch on a Church Street home and, more recently, the exterior work on an Ontario Street house.
Colterman – who has won similar recognition in the past – “is a very talented craftsman and tradesperson who worked with Anne Marie in restoring the porch on Church Street,” the councillor said.
“Please accept our sincere thanks for all that you two have done and, I know, will continue to do in the near future,” Mayor John Henderson said.
“I am honoured to be recognized for the work we have done,” Cummings said.
“Keith is definitely a craftsman I would recommend to anyone – he did an amazing job on the porch, and I know he will work through Cobourg to make sure the beautiful heritage properties are well taken care of.”
Mayor Henderson noted that Colterman has also been at work on the old Certo building on Ontario Street.
“The work is pretty much done now,” Colterman said.
“The roof is on it, the scaffolding is all down, and the masonry has been repaired.”
