Recycling truck strikes hydro pole Cobourg January 12, 2021

Emergency services responded to a recycling truck that struck a hydro pole in Cobourg on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. emergency services responded to Coverdale Avenue at Springbrook Road.

A recycling truck was backing up and struck a hydro pole, snapping the pole and leaving the transformer hanging over Coverdale Avenue leaking transformer oil.

Coverdale Avenue was shut down in the area until hydro crews can repair the damage.

Power is currently out for residents along Gardiner, Coverdale & Lakeshore Road in Cobourg. Due to damage, Lakefront Utilities stated the estimated time of restoration is approximately midnight.

There were no injuries and no charges.
