Two male suspects are facing numerous charges after ramming three police cruisers and fleeing from police in a stolen Toyota overnight in Pickering.
On Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at approximately 2:50 a.m., members of West Division observed a white Toyota in the area of Kingston Road and Dixie Road in Pickering operating without any lights and driving at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle ran through a red light at the intersection. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to stop for police and vehicle continued eastbound on Kingston Road.
The suspect vehicle entered a private parking lot and officers attempted to block the vehicle in. The suspect vehicle rammed two of the police cars and fled. The suspect vehicle struck an unoccupied vehicle on Bronte Road and then turned around at one point and drove towards three officers and struck another police car. The suspect vehicle had lost a tire and continued driving until the vehicle caught fire.
The vehicle was inoperable and the suspects were taken into custody.
David CHARIZANIS, age 31 of Sunderland Meadows Drive in the Township of Brock, is charged with fifteen charges including: Assault with Intent to Resist; Dangerous Operation; Assault Police with a Weapon; Fail to Remain at Accident and Fail to Stop for Police. He was held for a bail hearing.
A 15-year-old Pickering teen, is charged with: Possess Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000; Carry Concealed Weapon (brass knuckles); Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace and Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted Weapon. He was released on an Undertaking.
