Port Hope Police – Person Charged With Impaired Driving

A local man was arrested for operation while impaired after Port Hope Police received reports that a green Mercury had left the roadway on Jocelyn Street, Port Hope Ontario.

The driver of the vehicle, Allan Merrill, age 59 left the roadway and hit the crosswalk sign east of Victoria Street, Port Hope.

Merrill continued on after hitting the sign, crossed the laneway on Jocelyn Street for a second time and made contact with a vehicle waiting to turn north onto Jocelyn Street from Victoria Street.

Merrill was told to return to the scene by one of the witnesses who was a retired RCMP officer.

Merrill was arrested by Port Hope Police at 10:55 am on November 23, 2020 for impaired operation -blood drug concentration.

Thankfully no one was injured. Merrill will appear in court on December 9, 2020 to answer to the charge.
