Durham Police – Suspects Face Numerous Charges in Fraud Investigation

Three suspects are facing fraud charges after defrauding elderly victims of over $400,000 over the past years.

Over the past several years, one of the elderly victims was approached by the known suspect and asked to help her with legal fees for her son. The victim and her husband were defrauded of $300,000. The second elderly victim was told a similar story and she was defrauded of over $100,000 over the past eight years. Investigators from the Financial Crimes Unit investigated the matter and have arrested three suspects for the frauds.

Glenda MOWBRAY, age 73, of Mill Street in Clarington, Bryan ROBERTSON, age 68, and Travis ROBERTSON, age 33 both of Cedar Street in Oshawa are each charged with: Fraud Over $5,000 x2 and Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000.

They were released on an Undertaking.
