Cobourg Council – Veteran Firefighter Remembered

By Cecilia Nasmith/Today’s Northumberland
Members of council took a moment this week to extend condolences to the family of Don King, a 32-year veteran with the Cobourg Fire Department.

Councillor Brian Darling, a retired firefighter himself, said King had been a platoon chief who passed away after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Councillor Aaron Burchat offered an update on the department and its operations with year-to-date statistics.

Two of the numbers are slightly down from this time last year due to COVID-19 – the 1,083 incidents and the 263 training sessions. Fire-prevention activities, at 365, are up from last year.
