Cobourg Council – It Pays to Read

By Cecilia Nasmith/Today’s Northumberland
Cobourg Councillor Adam Bureau said the October program offered by the Cobourg Public Library essentially pays you to read.

In celebration of the library’s 25th anniversary of the opening in its new location on Ontario Street this month, library members aged 21 and under who have fines on their account amounting to $25 or less can, in effect, read them away.

Register for the program, Bureau explained, and you get a $5-per-hour credit to read. Just remember that there’s a $25 maximum and you can only read away your own fines.

Another way the anniversary is being celebrated is the library asking you to share your mementos – photos from past events and programs, or perhaps swag (like T-shirts and mugs). And, of course, visit the website to see all the great Halloween programs in store.
