Northumberland County – Help Inform Plans for Maintenance and Renewal of Local Infrastructure Through Online Survey
Northumberland County is enhancing asset management plans to prioritize investments in local infrastructure in order to ensure sustainable service delivery over the long-term. As part of this process, the County is seeking feedback from the public on the current condition of assets such as County roads, bridges, culverts, retaining walls and storm sewers along with expectations for future maintenance and renewal.
Well-planned and well-maintained infrastructure is critical to municipal service delivery and a thriving community. With aging assets, and the impacts of population and climate change, municipalities are increasingly challenged with ensuring the long-term sustainability of their infrastructure. Asset management planning helps municipalities make strategic, evidence-based decisions about infrastructure investments.
Northumberland County began developing a formal asset management system in 2015 and has been moving forward with phased implementation. This process is aligned with direction from the Province that all municipalities have a comprehensive asset management plan in place by July 1, 2024.
