Cobourg Police – Two Women Arrested for Shoplifting
On Friday, October 9th, 2020, at approximately 2:30 pm, officers responded to a Strathy Road business for a shoplift in progress. Two women had been observed by Loss Prevention Officers selecting merchandise, concealing it before exiting the store, making no attempts to pay for the items.
As a result of police investigation, 32-year-old Carly MAGEE of Port Hope was arrested and charged with the following offences:
1. Theft Under $5000 – contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code
2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal
Code
3. Breach of Probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code
Further, 30-year-old Amanda OSSEL of Colborne was arrested and charged with the following offences:
1. Theft Under $5000 – contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code
2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal
Code
Both women were released on an Appearance Notice with a future court date.
