Breaking News – Hamilton Township Mayor Left Speechless by Vandalism to Harwood Dock
Hamilton Township Mayor Bill Cane was left speechless after being shown pictures of vandalism that included a swastika that was spray painted at the Harwood Dock.
The area is commonly used by anglers and people for taking in the beauty of Rice Lake.
But on Saturday, October 3, 2020 Today’s Northumberland was told of vandalism which included a swastika along with KKK spray painted on a boulder at the Harwood Dock.
A plaque, Harwood Dock sign, pavement and a no parking sign were also spray painted.
It’s believed the incident happened sometime between Friday, October 2, and Saturday, October 3.
“I’m at a loss for words,” said Cane.
“That’s so out of character for our municipality.”
Northumberland OPP are investigating and with the wording it may be classified as a hate crime. If anyone has any information of suspicious activity between Friday and Saturday call 1.800.222.TIPS (8477)
