Northumberland OPP – Oshawa Woman Charged With Impaired Driving in School Zone

On Thursday September 24, 2020, an officer arrested an individual for alcohol related offences while conducting speed enforcement in a school safety zone on Ganaraska Road in the Municipality of Port Hope.

Just after 8:00 am, an officer stopped a black Hyundai four door sedan, after it was observed travelling at higher rate of speed than the posted speed limit. The officer found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. As a result of the investigation Samantha RILL, (age 27) of Oshawa, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Speeding – Community safety zone
· Disobey stop sign – fail to stop

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on November 25, 2020.
