Members from the Provincial Biker Enforcement Unit (BEU), in conjunction with the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), executed a search warrant on a vehicle in relation to illegal weapons associated to outlaw motorcycle gangs in the Municipality of Trent Hills.
On July 25, 2020, a black Mazda four door sedan with three passengers, was stopped at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint on County Road 30 just south of the town of Campbellford, ON. As a result of that investigation the driver was arrested and charged, and the vehicle was impounded.
On the same date of July 25, 2020, the BEU and CSCU executed a search warrant on the impounded vehicle which resulted with investigators seizing a sawed off pump action shot gun, and several rounds of ammunition.
Issac VERHEYEN (age 21), Alyssa FORBES (age 19) both of Brighton, Ontario, and Christopher ARMSTRONG (age 24) of Trent Hills, Ontario have each been arrested and charged with:
· Breach of firearms regulation – store firearm or restricted weapon
· Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
· Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
· Unauthorized possession of weapon
· Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon
· Possession of prohibited or restricted firearms/ammunition
Christopher ARMSTRONG was additionally charged with:
· Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (2 counts)
· Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
Each of the accused were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on November 18, 2020.
