On the 9th of August 2020, at approximately 4:10 pm, members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report from a motorist travelling East bound on highway 401 in the Grafton area. The motorist advised that a passenger in another vehicle displayed what appeared to be a hand gun. The vehicle was described as being driven eratically.
Members of the Northumberland OPP located the vehicle, and in co-ordination with members of the Quinte West OPP, conducted a high-risk vehicle stop and arrested the four occupants in the vehicle at the Northumberland / Quinte West border on highway 401. As a result of their investigation, officers discovered what appeared to be a black plastic toy hand gun, resembling a semi-automatic pistol.
Ani MOHAMMAD (age 18) of Saint Leonard, Quebec was charged with one count of mischief and released at the scene.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on the 9th of December 2020.
