Northumberland OPP – Prohibited Driver Charged With Impaired
(MUNICIPALITY OF BRIGHTON, ON) –On Saturday July 25, 2020, a member from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a prohibited driver while patrolling in the town of Brighton.
At approximately 4:15 pm, an officer was travelling northbound on Ontario Street. A brown Cadillac SUV that was travelling southbound, passed the officer at higher rate of speed than the posted 50 km/hr speed limit. The officer stopped the vehicle, and upon speaking with the operator suspected the driver had been consuming alcohol. Further investigation showed the driver to be a prohibited driver for a previous alcohol related incident.
Kevin John FREDERICKSON (age 32) of Brighton, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
· Operation while impaired – alcohol
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Operation while prohibited
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on September 23, 2020. The vehicle the accused was driving was impounded for 45 days.
