May 23 death 1

Members of the Central Region OPP Emergency Response Team searched the property east of Colborne where police are conducting a sudden death investigation.

The only release police has issued stated an adult male was located on a residential property east of Colborne on May 18, 2020 at 7 p.m. when police and paramedics found a male inside a outbuilding with “obvious signs of trauma and no vital signs.”

The property on the south side of County Road 2 at the address 14407 across from Trenear Road.

The release went on to state that Northumberland OPP Crime Unit and Central Region Forensic Identification Services in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario are investigating under the direction of the OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch.

Today’s Northumberland reached out to the local OPP media officer and Central Region media officer for any update on Saturday, May 23, 2020, but both stated, “no update, still investigating.”

On Saturday there appeared to be over 20 OPP officers from the Central Region Emergency Response Team along with a OPP Canine Unit searching the property and ditches along County Road 2 around the property.

It appears a number of people were working inside a Forensic Identification Tent at the rear of the property, possibly near where the body was found.

Later in the day, a vehicle was towed from the scene and a neighbour reported drones were flying over the property.

Today’s Northumberland will provide any details as they become available.
