The “Social Distancing Easter Bunny” Visits Port Hope

The “Social Distancing Easter Bunny” made the rounds in Port Hope on Saturday, April 11, 2020.

Due to COVID-19 all celebrations for Easter have been cancelled, but Durham Regional Police Officer Corey Walsh usually has a Easter celebration in Durham Region and with a few adjustments and a bit of help, the Easter Bunny arrived in Port Hope.

“We know a lot of people are under stress. I’m still working actively and I know a lot of people are hurting given what’s going on and a lot of people are feeling stressed with the impact so this is just an idea we came up with as an opportunity to get out into the community and put some smiles on peoples faces.”

Numerous people contacted Walsh and on Saturday, Walsh and the Easter Bunny visited many homes in Port Hope, but making sure they kept a safe distance using an arm-stick and having disinfected the packages before they were handed out.
