With a memorandum of understanding between the Town of Cobourg and the Cobourg Dragon Boat and Canoe Club approved at the February 3 council meeting, Councillor Adam Bureau made a notice of motion to establish a similar definitive version of terms between the town and the Cobourg Public Library.
“A lack of clearly defined roles and responsibilities between the Cobourg Public Library Board and the Town of Cobourg negatively affects budget requests, deliberations and approvals,” the notice of motion said.
It called for a MOU “to clearly define the roles and responsibilities, and relationships between the Town of Cobourg and the Cobourg Public Library Board.”
It also set out representatives to be present during discussions leading up to a draft that the motion calls for to be finalized by June 1 – Bureau himself (as Council Co-ordinator of Arts, Culture and Tourism), interim chief administrative officer Ian Davey and municipal clerk Brent Larmer on behalf of the town with library chief administrative officer Tammy Robinson and board chair Kevin Caldwell.
The motion will be brought forward at the Feb. 18 committee-of-the-whole council meeting.
