Port Hope – The Rose Project Has Opened a Personal Care Community Cupboard
In cooperation with the Town of Port Hope; The Rose Project has opened a Personal Care Community Cupboard.
Located just behind Town Hall in Port Hope; it is the brain child of Rose Project founder, Rose Wilton and Rose Project board chair, Pam Royl.
Using the outstanding talent of carpenter Courtney Sutton of Northern Revival Co. who designed the piece, and the extraordinary vision of Lee Higginson of Fluke Craft to paint the finished cupboard; the little larder looks as if the project is giving the community a hug.
All materials and time required to create, approve and install the cupboard were generously donated.
The cupboard aims to provide local folks in need with personal items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap and feminine hygiene products. In the warmer months other items such as shampoo and body wash will be available.
The Rose Project, which has twice now been awarded a Town of Port Hope civic award for community service, was founded in 2015.
It is run completely by volunteers and donations of items rather than cash.
