Durham Region – Five Luxury Vehicle Thefts in Ajax

Police are asking residents to be vigilant after five luxury vehicles were stolen from various residential driveways in Ajax in November.

Between Wednesday, November 6, and Thursday, November 21, 2019, investigators from West Division had five separate luxury vehicle thefts reported within a small radius. These occurred in the area of Taunton Road to Kingston Road and Church Street North to Lake Ridge Road in the Ajax area. None of the stolen vehicles have been recovered. The suspects have stolen mostly Lexus SUV’s and one Mercedes CL.

These vehicles were locked and taken without the keys during the night. It is believed that the suspects are reprogramming the factory settings on these vehicles and gaining access with a newly programmed key.

Residents are reminded to lock vehicles and remove any valuables from view. If you can park your vehicle in the garage, it would be advisable.

It’s also important to park your vehicle in a well-lit area and consider video surveillance on your property.

There is no suspect information in the above cases but police believe that the suspects are operating a dark-colored SUV.

If anyone has further information or video surveillance, they are encouraged to Contact A/D/Sgt. Carter of the West Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at 905-579-1520 ext. 2562.

Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at

and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
