November 23, 2019 is International Survivor of Suicide Loss Day (ISOSLD). The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) supports people and organizations around the world in hosting a day for survivors to connect with one another, remember the person who died by suicide, and move forward on a healing journey.
The first annual ISOSLD event in Northumberland will be held on November 23, 2019. There will be a screening of the short film Pathways to Hope: Healing After Suicide Loss. Created by AFSP for this day, the film will be the basis for discussion and activity in the morning. In the afternoon, there will be a choice of 2 workshops – Write to Heal: Therapeutic Writing After Suicide Loss OR Kintsugi: The Art of Healing. Lunch is included.
This event is facilitated by Maureen Pollard, MSW, RSW at Venture 13 in Cobourg, ON. Maureen is a social worker who has worked in Northumberland and the surrounding regions for more than 27 years. Traumatic bereavement, including grief after suicide loss, is a primary focus of her work in private practice.
There is no charge for survivors of suicide loss to attend, but participants are asked to register at: http://www.eventbrite.ca/e/international-survivor-of-suicide-loss-day-tickets-78971069595
