Cameco Fund for Mental Health Accepting Applications

Cameco today announced it is accepting applications to its Cameco Fund for Mental Health. This new granting program will provide $68,000 for mental health projects and programming in Northumberland County to be allocated by the end of 2019.

On May 25, 2019, the 8th Annual Cameco Charity Golf Tournament raised $30,000 for the Cameco Fund for Mental Health. On September 28, 2019, over 400 runners and walkers laced up for the inaugural Step Up for Mental Health 5K in Port Hope. Their efforts helped raise $38,000 for mental health initiatives. Every dollar from registration fees, plus a matching amount from Cameco, supported the Cameco Fund for Mental Health.

All funds will be disbursed to organizations undertaking projects that promote or protect mental health in Northumberland County.

“We are all touched by mental health challenges whether it’s directly or indirectly through a family member, co-worker or friend,” said Dale Clark, Vice President of Cameco’s Fuel Services Division. “Funding mental health initiatives is essential to helping ensure that there are supports and resources available. It is our hope that these funds help make a positive difference for those that need it in our community.”

The Cameco Fund for Mental Health is established through the Saskatoon Community Foundation. Applications for funding will be adjudicated by a panel that includes local mental health professionals and representatives from Cameco. The grant program is open to registered charities and other “qualified donees,” non-profits, and organized groups. The deadline for online applications is 11:59 p.m. November 28, 2019.
