Northumberland OPP – Suspect Charged With Theft And Dangerous Driving

On Saturday June 8, 2019 members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a reported theft from the corner store located on Percy Street in the village of Castleton.

At approximately 1:00 pm the owner of the convenience store called police after he confronted a male in the parking lot regarding the theft of a bottle of liquor. The male suspect quickly reversed the dark colored SUV he was driving striking the store owner with the side mirror then rapidly left the location .

Just before 2:30 pm police located the suspect walking westbound on County Road 22 in Alnwick-Haldimand Township. The grey Ford SUV he was driving was located on a property not far from where he was located. The vehicle was found to have been reported as stolen from the Windsor area on June 7, 2019.

Jason Frederick Allen JACKSON (age 35) from Windsor, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Theft Under $5,000 – Shoplifting
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (two counts)
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

The accused was held in custody for a Wash Court Hearing on Sunday June 9, 2019.
The owner of the store was not injured and did not require any medical attention.
