The Cobourg Nissan Kodiaks are ready for their fourth season in Major Series Lacrosse and are entering it with something to prove.
Kodiaks GM and Co-Owner John Webb says he thinks this years team is “right there” talent-wise.
“Now it’s just a matter of fine-tuning our game to make the playoffs.”
Returning for the Kodiaks are goalies Kevin Orleman, who had an outstanding rookie campaign in 2018, as well as Kevin Croswell, who in 2017 helped lead the team to a phenomenal win over the Peterborough Lakers. Joey Cupido, better known as “Lightning”, is back as Captain as well as NLL players Colton Armstrong, Steph Charbonneau, Kyle Killen, Ryan Lee, Chris Cloutier, and Brandon Robinson.
Joining them this year will be 6’8 Mike Triolo, who is back with the club after spending the past two seasons playing in western Canada and for the Rochester Nighthawks in the NLL. Also playing this season will be newly acquired Cam Milligan. Kodiaks training camp finished up this past Sunday, May 26th, and included drafted players Mitch Gustavson, Scott Dominey, Tanner Poole and Ben French. Jamie Dubrick is returning as head coach for the fourth season. Dubrick is excited to start the season.
“This is a team that I’m really excited to coach. With the new additions and returning guys, we’re going to be a young, fast transition team who will look to push the pace in games”.
The Kodiaks home opener takes place this Sunday, June 2nd at 6pm at the Cobourg Community Centre.
“We have several exciting things planned for Sunday”, explains team Co-Owner Eric Graham, “including special deals offered by our new partnership with YMCA Northumberland, and we will be welcoming the Skeena Sea Cadets to perform O Canada. We are also pleased to announce Castle John’s Cobourg as the official restaurant of the Kodiaks and invite fans to join us there after every game.”
