Northumberland County Council Celebrates Volunteers During Recognition Ceremony

As National Volunteer Week approaches, Northumberland County Council today recognized 10 individuals who donate their time and expertise in support of various County programs and services.
During this year’s Volunteer Recognition Event, individuals were celebrated for their contributions to resident life enrichment at the Golden Plough Lodge, to coaching small business entrepreneurs with the Business & Entrepreneurship Centre, to providing input on waste management practices as part of the Brighton Landfill Liaison Committee, and to packaging food for those in need at the Food 4 All Warehouse.
“Northumberland County is grateful for the contributions of over 70 volunteers who work with our various teams to help us foster a strong and vibrant Northumberland,” states Warden John Logel. “Today we recognize those celebrating service milestones, and thank them for their tireless support of County programs and services. Through their generous donations of time and expertise, these individuals are making a difference in our community.”
The Northumberland County Volunteer Recognition Event celebrates the service milestones of community members who volunteer in support of a County-managed program or service. The event recognizes volunteers celebrating two, five, 10, 20 and 30 years of service with the County. This annual event is held in relation to National Volunteer Week—an annual celebration across Canada recognizing and promoting community volunteerism, this year taking place from April 7 to 13.

· Eric Lawlor, five years of service, Business & Entrepreneurship Centre Northumberland
· Shelley McGill, five years of service, Golden Plough Lodge
· Jim Sled, five years of service, Business & Entrepreneurship Centre Northumberland
· Rosemary Smith, five years of service, Food 4 All warehouse
· Jim Smith, five years of service, Food 4 All warehouse
· Peter McCann, 10 years of service, Brighton Landfill Liaison Committee
· Diane Turner, 10 years of service, Golden Plough Lodge
· Peter Kurita, 20 years of service, Golden Plough Lodge
