Northumberland OPP – Three Drivers Charged With Impaired Driving Over The Weekend

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged three individuals for impaired driving over the weekend.
On Saturday March 16, 2019 just after 5:30 pm an officer came across a black four door sedan stopped displaying hazard lights on County Road 25 at the Highway 401 Eastbound exit in Cramahe Township. The officer stopped to check on the motorist to see if assistance was required. Upon speaking with the driver, an od our of an alcoholic beverage was detected. A Roadside Screening Device (ASD) was administered resulting in a “fail”. Peter TRAYNOR (age 59) of Cramahe Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80)
He was released and is scheduled to appear in Cobourg court on May 1, 2019.

On the same date of March 16, 2019 just after 6:00 pm police responded to a single vehicle collision on County Road 10 south of Ganaraska Road in the Municipality of Port Hope involving a green Honda sedan. The vehicle was reported to have left the roadway, striking a ditch causing the vehicle to rollover. No injuries were sustained as a result of the collision. Joseph MORE (age 36) of Port Hope, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs Two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance – opioid (other than heroin)
He was released and is scheduled to appear in Cobourg court on April 10, 2019.

On Sunday March 17, 2019 at approximately 2:00 am a motorist notified police of a black Jeep that was being operated in an erratic manner at inconsistent speeds travelling eastbound on Highway 401 from the Port Hope Service Center. The vehicle was stopped by officers on the highway east of Cobourg. Upon speaking with the driver the officer detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage. A Roadside Screening Device (ASD) was administered resulting in a “fail”. As a result of the investigation William Stewart Munroe MCCUE (age 22) of Georgina Island, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80)
He was released and is sche duled to appear in Cobourg court on April 10, 2019.
The OPP would like to remind motorists that highway safety is a shared responsibility. If you choose to consume alcohol or drugs, plan ahead to ensure that yourself and others that may be travelling our roadways arrive home safely.
