The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with 122 incidents this past weekend, here are some examples:
January 25
Police arrested and charged a 23-year-old male from Cramahe Township with assault as a result of a domestic dispute investig ation that occurred in the town of Colborne. The male was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brighton on a date in March 2019.
A resident of Cramahe Township called police to report that at approximately 7:00 am he observed two persons enter his pick-up truck that was parked in the driveway of his residence on Streamside Drive located in the town of Colborne. The resident yelled at the suspects and they immediately fled. No items were reported stolen from the unlocked vehicle.*
An officer conducted a traffic stop on a white pick-up truck at approximately 7:30 pm after it was measured travelling 107 km/h in a posted 80 km/m zone on Oak Ridges Drive in Hamilton Township. As a result of the investigation a 56-year-old female from Clarington, Ontario was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with speeding and additionally charged under the Cannabis Control Act with having care or control of a motor vehicle with cannabis readily available.
Officers responded to a report of a black pick-up truck in the ditch on Main Street in Bewdley north of County Road 9 in Hamilton Township just before 9:00 pm. Officers found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. As a result of the investigation 48-year-old Steven VERGE of Port Hope, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Have care or control of a vehicle with cannabis readily available
. Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
. Failure or refusal to comply with demand
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on March 6, 2019.
January 26
Police continue to investigate a reported theft of a 2001 red GMC Sierra pick-up truck with a Fischer V plow attached to the front of it. The vehicle was stolen on the evening of January 25, 2019 at approximately 9:40 pm from an address on Dale Road in in the Municipality of Port Hope. The pick-up truck has a VIN number of 1GTHK24U51E240266 with Ontario plates AM43270 attached to the front and rear of the vehicle.*
January 27
Just after 4:00 pm officers received information of a possible impaired driver reportedly heading toward the Campbellford area in a white Chevrolet Malibu. An officer located the vehicle in Hasting s and stopped in on County Road 25 in the Municipality of Trent Hills. As a result of the investigation, 34-year-old Kerry Lynn DUBBLESTYNE of Trent Hills, Ontario was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:
Dangerous operation
. Operation while impaired – drug
She was released and is scheduled to appear on the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on February 6, 2019.
Officers also investigated 13 accidental 911 calls/alarms, 20 motor vehicle collisions; 26 traffic related complaints and conducted 9 RIDE programs over the weekend.
