Northumberland OPP – Attempt Made To Flee Police

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – On Monday October 1, 2018 Officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police made attempts to stop a red off road dirt bike travelling southbound on County Road 30 toward the town of Brighton, Ontario.

The driver of the dirt bike tried numerous times to evade police but was eventually stopped safely on Young Street just north of Brighton. As a result of the investigation 32 year old Matthew RIGHTMYER of Quinte West was arrested and charged with the following offences:

– Care or Control Over 80 mgs
– Driving while Disqualified
– Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order
– Driving while Under Suspension
– Drive Motor Vehicle with no plates
– Unlawfully Drive Off Road Vehicle on Highway

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brighton on November 6, 2018.
