Durham Police – Two Suspects Arrested in 2016 Homicide Investigation of an Infant

Investigators have arrested two suspects in relation to a 2016 Homicide investigation of an eight-month old boy.

On Thursday, December 29, 2016 at approximately 8:10 p.m. members of Central East Division were called to an apartment on Robson Street in Oshawa for an unknown trouble call. Police arrived to find an eight-month old baby not breathing. Despite best efforts by EMS the baby boy was pronounced dead.

A post mortem was conducted and the death of the baby was ruled as a homicide. The victim died from numerous injuries.

The deceased baby has been identified as Kaleb MCKAY. This means that there were six homicides in 2016 in Durham Region.

After a lengthy investigation investigators have arrested the baby’s 26-year-old mother and her 25-year-old boyfriend.

Denim HENDERSON, age 25 of Robson Street in Oshawa, is charged with: Second Degree Murder; Aggravated Assault and Assault Causing Bodily Harm. 

Jordan BROWNELL, age 26 of Robson Street in Oshawa, is charged with Manslaughter.

They were both held for a bail hearing.
