Firearm Seized and Two Arrested In Whitby
A firearm was seized and two males face several charges after police stopped a vehicle in Whitby early this morning.
On Wednesday May 16, 2018, at about 1:20 a.m., members of the Gun and Gang Unit stopped a vehicle and arrested the two male occupants at Dundas Street and Thickson Road. A subsequent search was conducted and a loaded restricted firearm was seized. The investigation continued and a search warrant was executed at a residence in Whitby where no further firearms were located.
Two males were arrested without incident and a loaded .45 caliber handgun was located in the vehicle. An image of the handgun is attached and can be viewed at drps.ca.
Antonio JACK, age 20, of Garrard Road in Whitby, is charged with: Fail to Comply with Recognizance x2; Careless Storage of a Firearm; Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm; Possession Knowing it is Unauthorized; Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle; Possession of a Loaded Restricted Firearm and Possession Contrary to Firearms Prohibition Order. He was held for a bail hearing.
Hasibullah SAKHIYAR, age 23 of Merchants Avenue in Whitby is charged with: Careless Storage of a Firearm; Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm; Possession Knowing it is Unauthorized; Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle; Possession of a Loaded Restricted Firearm and Possession Contrary to Firearms Prohibition Order. He was held for a bail hearing.
