Men charged after reports of domestic disturbances. Man charged after routine traffic stop.
A 31 year old Port Hope man is facing assault charges after Port Hope Police responded to a domestic disturbance. On May 1st 2018 at 12:30am, Police commenced an investigation into the disturbance and received information that the man pushed a woman described as his girlfriend off a picnic table. The man was arrested at the scene and is charged with assault and breach of probation. He appears in court at the end of May.
A 60 year old West End Port Hope man is charged with assault with a weapon after officers from the Port Hope Police were called to a disturbance. On the 2nd of May 2018 shortly before 11:00pm Police arrived on the scene and commenced an investigation into the incident. It is alleged that during an argument the man threw a full glass of wine at a female victim. The man was arrested at the scene and later released with a court date in early June.
A 31 year old Port Hope man is facing charged after Police initiated a traffic stop in the Municipality’s east end on Sunday June 6th before noon. The man was observed operating a Honda Civic when a Port Hope Police Officer determined the plates were not registered for that vehicle. Subsequently during the vehicle stop Police located a small quantity of marihuana. The man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Further investigation revealed a larger quantity of marihuana in the vehicle as well as some stolen construction tools. Daniel Bates is charged with Possession of a controlled substance, Obstruct Police, possession of stolen property, 4 Highway Traffic Act offences and one offence under the Commercial Automobile Insurance Act. He appears in court in June 2018.
